Scarlet Fever and Strep in a child; OMNICEF not working??

We went to the doctors this last Friday and started meds on Friday. My son's condition is not getting any better on this drug, omnicef. He was diagnosed with scarlet fever because of a raised angry red rash around his belly button. He also was diagnosed with strep by a throat culture sample. Is it possible this drug isn't working? Should I wait until Monday to call the office OR go to urgent care today. It has been about 40 hours or so since he began care and has had 5 doses of omnicef. Fever rages on daily and he is very lethargic, twiching, shivers, very moody. He is aged 3.11.

Thank you.

I should have mentioned also he has autism. Through testing he ALWAYS has a high bacteria level I never am able to control seemingly with probiotics.

Also I contacted the doctor and he said omnicef is great as a drug and if he is still lethargic, no appetite and fever tomorrow Monday to bring him in. Agree?

Go now - we recently had a bad case of strep here so it needs something stronger. Go get the help he needs don't wait on your regular doctor. Call their after hours service and say where you are going and why.
Generally 36 hours the patient should feel better but they may tell you he still needs more time. I doubt it kids bounce back with strep - and there is a strain that is hard to treat.

Other than Omnicef, did they tell you to give him anything else? Omnicef is an antibiotic that should also be helping with the fever.

If he is lethargic, twitching and still has a high fever, I would definately take him to urgent care today.

please go back to hospital- or clinic- you cant take chances with your child's life- l don't wish to alarm you-- but l have carried health problems into my adult life- from when l had scarlet fever as a little child-- so don't hesitate-- .good luck.
