What are the symptoms for scarlet fever? |
because my neighbor has it and was i was around her this past weekend and now i think i'm getting sick and i really hope its not scarlet fever! Symptoms of Scarlet Fever There are "erythrogenic" strains of streptococcus. The rash is a general fine, red rash that feels like sandpaper. Otherwise, the symptoms are the same as for any other streptococcal infection. It can come from impetigo, for instance, but typically it is exactly the same thing as a strep throat, with the rash added. Scarlet fever is strep throat. It can be treated by antibiotics now. When my mother had it in the 1930's as a little child, she was very ill for months. It ruined her teeth. It effected her heart. y mother was quarantined. When the illness ended, everything she had been in contact with was burned. The wallpaper was steamed of the walls. Extremely high fever, pin point rash, total exhaustion, ( you wouldn't be able to get out of bed or dress yourself). It lasts several months, even though the rash will disappear and can affect your heart. You will be tired for a very long time. Scarlet fever is really just strep throat with an extremely sore, red throat, hence the name scarlet fever. The symptoms of strep throat include, stomach ache, sore throat, swollen glands, fever, and no energy. Its usually treated with antibiotics, if doctors catch it soon enough, or with penicillin, if its been more than 72 hours. If it is antibiotics will cure you. If you get symptoms go to the doctor |
