Scarlet Fever or a simple case of psoriasis?

About 16 days ago my brother (26 yoa) came down with a bad fever and stomach cramps. He thought he had food poisoning. He also had back pain, which he thought was unrelated. A day later, he started to get a red-raised rash in his armpits and from there it continued to spread. The fever lasted for 2 days and the rash has now spread nearly to his entire body. The only place free of rash is his face and lower legs. Three days after his first symptoms he did see a doctor who refused to touch him b/c he thought he had poison ivy. He prescribed him steroids and muscle relaxers for his back. He also had an allergy shot. None of that seemed to help and the rash only worsened. Today he went to a dermatologist who said it was psoriasis and prescribed him some creams. Should we keep pursuing doctors to urge them to take a throat culture or trust the doctors? He also has a white coating on his tongue and swollen glands in his throat. And the rash is worse near his groin area.

Your brother does have symptoms of psoriasis, but also carry other symptoms. It is still best to ask another doctors opinion on the other symptoms of your brother to ensure about his health and any sickness he may be under. I hope everything works out well.
