How common is scarlet fever in the us? |
i mean i cant figure out how common it is and i have to do a feature article for it in health class i dont care if it's common in like 1% of the us i just cant find it anywhere and i feel really stupid for asking... and im pissed... help? I am thinking if you asked most people, they would say rare. I am saying this, as I have been in health care since the late 1980's, and I had scarlet fever with strep throat in 1990 when I was still a teenager---not quite 20...not far from it though. look up the university of Iowa study on scarlet fever and strep. My daughter had scarlet fever 6months ago due to strep throat. The doctor called in other doctors to look at her skin because every doctor that worked there never saw a real case in their whole career. It was more common 20-30 yrs. ago. I looked up strep throat and scarlet fever and found articles from the University Of Iowa Hospitals on this particular topic. I believe they gave stats on how many children get scarlet fever. I do not know if it's common in adults. I know it can cause kidney failure, heart failure and death if gone untreated. Hope this helps anyway........ |
