Strep Throat? |
Hey, ive just recently (about 7 days ago) been diagnosed with strep throat and was prescribed Amoxicillan (a type of penicillin). But about 1 day and a few hours ago, i broke out with a red rash, started on my upper arms and chest and spread around my body, it has since left my face. I have read that strep throat can also cause something call Scarlet Fever, which is characterized by rashes and the sort.. i do not beleive my tongue is swollen, i havent been having head aches or nasuea which are parts of the scarlet fever, so i was wondering am i just having an allergic reaction to the medicine? The same doctor that prescribed it glanced at me and said i was having a reaction, but it was a very informal thing so im just wanting to check. It could be an allergic reaction or scarlet fever. Yes, it could be scarlet fever (especially if you've been running a temp) or it could be an allergic reaction to the antibiotic. I am allergic to Ammox.and I get a rash exactly like what you described. You might want to have the doctor check you over again! |
