So me and my cousin in whom i live with were diagnosed with scabies about a month ago. We treated twice and were getting resualts. Then the other day my dad said that he wanted to treat b/c he was itching to. We told him to treat before buthe said that he didnt have them. I dont to treat again b/c i for one have really sensitive skin && for two am scared b/c the cream that you use to get rid of scabies has fermaldihide and different pestisides. should i retreat????? yes you should retreat. I had scabies about two years ago and it is hard to get rid of. Try not to sit on on fibrous materials like your couch or car seat that you sat on when you were infected. Scabies can live for 48 hrs or more without human contact. wash all your clothes and your sheets. If you don't have leather seats in your car lay a towel or blanket down so you don't catch it again. My family had to bring the wooden chairs from the kitchen table in the living room to have something to sit on but it kept us from getting it again. Oh also make sure anything non fibrous you use has been cleaned and sterilized If you have scabies again, you should re-treat. If you all live in the same house hold and someone has it- chances are you have it, too. It's recommended that if one person in the house has it- all members are treated since they have chances of having it and reinfecting others. If it keeps recurring, someone is harboring it or you need to thoroughly clean your clothes, blankets, bed, etc. The mites can live up to 3 days on objects an infected person comes in contact with. Treating just yourself and not cleaning things in the house that they might be in or on will not make them go away. |
