Scabies ...should i invite ? |
um hi...i wanted to invite my best friend over tommorow..but people at her house have scabies..and it`s really contaigius..should i still invite her? Scabies is caused by the mite Sarcoptes scabiei, variety hominis, as shown by the Italian biologist Diacinto Cestoni in the 18th century. It produces intense, itchy skin rashes when the impregnated female tunnels into the stratum corneum of the skin and deposits eggs in the burrow. The larvae, which hatch in 3-10 days, move about on the skin, molt into a "nymphal" stage, and then mature into adult mites. The adult mites live 3-4 weeks in the host's skin. Scabies is transmitted by repeated or prolonged contact with an infected person, their bedding, towels or recently worn clothing. The mites do not leap through the air and land on you. Members of households with scabies are supposed to undergo treatment at the same time and remain in isolation for the duration of the treatment (24 hours). not a good idea. |
