Scabies question.?

How do you know if scabies is gone after you apply the cream? It continues to itch so it's hard to tell if they are actually gone or not?

If you used a premetherin cream, then scabies are usually cleared up after 1 treatment (there is a very small failure rate with these creams) You are correct about the itching, you will probably itch for a week or so. Ask your doctor for a cortisone cream to help with the inflammation and itching, don't soak in long hot baths, and use a body moisturizer.

To the poster above, scabies does not live on animals, you get it from close skin to skin contact with people, like sleeping together, wrestling etc

By it itching your skin is still being exposed to it...so it hasn't cleared up yet.

My hubby took in a stray dog years ago and then almost hours later was inflicted with scabies all over (because the dog was hurt and he had to carry it). He had even rubbed his eyes and it spread there. That medicated cream is a God send...just takes a little bit of time to work. Taking some oral Benedryl also helps.
