Can ewing sarcoma cancer be lethal? |
I know a person that I'm very very worried about, and I was wondering just how serious it really is. I know that it is serious, but I'm not sure how serious and I'm really worried. If it helps at all he's about 25 years old. I forgot to say that it is on the spine. Now I'm even more worried. :*( It all depends on the size and age of the tumor when it's found. I looked it up real quick, this is bone related by what I've briefly read, I can only tell you to search the net, hopefully you can find a proper answer there. I lost my own father to cancer, not a easy thing to live through. Best of luck to you and your friend as well. You know, sometimes good things come out of these situations. Could be just a wake up call for all. Yes, it can be lethal, it is always lethal without treatment. there is survival rate and a cure rate, but I must say, the cure rate is pretty low. It depends on the stage (5-years survival is 70-80% for stage I and 20% for stage IV) and the localization of the tumor because is important for the tumor to be entirely removed (for instance if the tumor is in the leg, an amputation increases the chances of survival, but if it's on the mandible, it can be hardly entirely removed) |
