No. AIDS is acquired immune deficiency syndrome, where a person's immune system slowly deteriorates, Karposi's Sarcoma is a cancer that is related to AIDS, as I understand it. KS is an opportunistic infection that is more common in HIV + patients. It resembles painless bruising that can occur anywhere, including in the mouth. This is rare, but is more common in older men of Mediterrian descent. Karposi's Sarcoma is a cancer. It occurs in people with very damaged immune systems - ie people who have AIDS or perhaps people in strong immunosuppressant medications after having an organ transplant. |
