Is Ewing's Sarcoma terminal? No. Ewing's sarcoma is treatable, but there is no cure. Survival depends upon the location, stage and grade of the tumor plus the individuals overall health, age, and response to treatment. Many other things will factor in as well, including luck. depends on whether the tumor is localized or has spread. If the tumor has spread the prognosis is certainly guarded but not necessarily terminal in all situations. There is a 60% long term survival with present treatment. 6 yrs ago our neighbors son had to leave college in S. Carolina after being diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma. For the next year he endured a heavy treatment of chemo and removal of part of his pelvis. He was told he would not walk again. It was absolutely painful to watch this kid go through all these painful treatments. Now six years later.. He is cancer free, he not only walks but runs 2-3 miles a day, Finished college and works as an environmental consultant for the government and lives in Alaska. He received his treatment at Vanderbilt University. |
