Can Sarcoidosis turn into Cancer?

My husband got told last july he had lymphoma only to be told two weeks later after a biopsy (and the day before scheduled chemo) that he had sarcoidosis. Since then he has been on corticosteroids (? spelling) and goes to doc every three weeks to get his blood checked becaused apparantly he is at risk of developing diabetes from the drugs. The doctor keeps giving him the impression that he will have to be on the drugs almost permanently and therefore will need permanent doctors visits cause the doctor said that the sarcoidosis can turn into lymphoma. Now I am not a doctor but nothing I have read suggests that it can turn. I am frustrated as at $100 a visit every three weeks its a real drain especially when nothing in 7 months has changed or looks like it will ever change. And not knowing the Aussie health system well I don't know what our options are. Can anyone help?

Sarcoidosis can cause kidney problems and scarring of the lungs, but it is not known to turn cancerous. About 90% of those who develop it are completely cured within 2 years, with or without treatment. 10% develop a persistant chronic form of the disease. Corticosteroids are the recommended drugs to treat it..
