Does anyone know if there is a link between sarcoidosis and vitamin d should stop drinking milk?

i read on the internet that people with sarcoidosis should avoid vitamine d I love milk is there and alternative that tastes just as good

At this time, it is not known if there is a direct connection with intravascular calcium levels and sarcoidosis. Some patients (but not all) with sarcoidosis have extremely high levels of calcium--again the reasons are not known; elevated calcium levels can cause a change in your mental status, nausea, vomiting, lethargy, constipation, etc., and when levels are really high, can put you into a coma and cause death.

They may be telling you to avoid Vitamin D because Vitamin D promotes absorption of calcium. They may be telling you to avoid too much sunlight, because sunlight promotes synthesis of Vitamin D in your skin. They may be telling you to avoid calcium rich foods for obvious reasons.

Most people would not be able to tell what their calcium level is without having a blood test to have it checked.

If you are able to monitor your calcium levels and know that having this extra calcium will not affect your calcium level (and you have the ability to keep checking your levels to make sure of this), then perhaps you may be able to continue drink milk, if your doctor will let you. There is nothing that I am aware of (but check with your doctor) that says you cannot, if it does not adversely affect your condition.

However, sometimes it's best to just play it safe. Sacrificing some of life's pleasures is necessary sometimes if you want to live healthy.
