My mother has sarcoidosis, has had her spleen removed, now psorosis of the liver. Can she survive? Your mom may survive for a long time. Many people live normal lives without a spleen. As far as the sarcoidosis, it may be the problem she now has with her liver. Rarely does sarcoidosis strike only one organ. While there is no cure for the disease, there are treatments available to help with the inflammation it causes. If left untreated, the inflammation leads to scarring of the affected organ. Normally patients are placed on some sort of steroid. No doctor has a crystal ball that can tell you how long your mom can survive. However, if she takes care of herself, takes any prescribed medications, and remains as active as possible, she may live to be a very old woman. Good luck to you both. Sorry to hear about that. I think maybe you mean cirrhosis rather than psorosis (that's in plants). with cirrhosis of the liver it is hard to tell how long the life expectancy is b/c I don't know how advanced the cirrhosis is. |
