Salt pipe? How do they work and can you make a homemade one?

Recently I saw something called a Salt pipe which is used to treat breathing problems and asthma. You inhale through a handheld 'pipe' in which the air passes over natural salts. Has anyone tried this, how does it work and can you envision a way to make one or to do the same treatment at home?

Sorry, Cassie, never heard of one,. I would be interested in your answers.

Hey Cassie, I have used something much simpler to help me at home. Boil a pot of water with about 3 or 4 tablespoons of salt in it and breath the steam in. You can also create a kind of funnel to move the steam into one direction by wrapping the top of the pot with aluminum foil and leaving a whole open at the top.
