Salt intake?

Should we add salt to our food?
Many years ago when I worked in the Middle East.
We were advised to take salt tablets daily, which everyone did !
Now we are advised not to add salt to our food.
how much salt do we need daily?
is there enough naturally in food?

your body NEEDS only about 200mg a day. of course, that's almost impossible with most of the foods out there, so the daily recommended amount is more in the neighborhood of 2400mg as a upper limit. you'll easily reach that by just eating foods without salt.

I love salt on my food

The American foods that we usually eat have the remomended ammount of salt. Unless you make all of your meals from scratch (Which means fresh food that you combind, not pulling out a packet and adding watter) If you make them from scratch, then you should add salt. If not don't worry about it.

The average table salt that you buy from the store has no nutritional value at all.
I use Celtic Sea Salt it has about eighty minerals. The minerals are not processed out of it like normal table salt.
Stay away from salt that is pure white. A good salt is greyish in colour or and off white. They were quite right giving you salt tablets.

Salt can't be taken too much...salt is needed only in a small amount by our body. Mostly, our food contains enough salt already especially in the seasoning or something like it.
