Extreme salt cravings? |
Okay, i've always had my cravings for salts and sweets, but within the last few days my cravings for salty things has been OUT OF CONTROL... And i mean all different kinds of salty things: olives, sunflower seeds, chex mix, chips, top ramen, etc etc... and i have been drinking loads of water... I want to keep eating salt but its like my toungue is sick of salt, sounds wierd but its a bit swollen... I haven't really changed my diet (except for the salt haha) and i've started back up on my exercise routine. I just gradauted college and i 'm curious as to whether stress (because i don't know what im going to do with my life) could lead to such an extreme craving... i was already tested for diabetes You could have a sodium deficiency (though I think that is highly unlikely) or it could just be plain old PMS. You could be lacking some type of nutrient/mineral. it may be diabetes. go to a doctor and get a blood test. NO..bUT OMG!!! I KNOW WHAT THIS IS AHHH!!..BUT I CANT REMEBER THE NAME!!......I seen an issue on the dicovery health channel about this a little boy had it! and hee kinda had the same thing about salt and stuff!...n it wasnt soooo good CRAP!! i cant remeber the name but go 2 the dr. and you'll know what am talking about! :) I've heard of this happening. I'd check your diet. Especially if you're in the USA, your sugar/glucose intake is likely very high compared to other countries. Your body usually craves salt when you're eating too much sweet stuff to try and balance out. It also has the added bonus of making you really thirsty which could be the other thing. Most people in developed nations are dehydrated and don't know it. Try cutting down on the sweet stuff, and drinking more PLAIN WATER every day. If that doesn't help, I would definitely be seeing a doctor. I had the same problem.... |
