Insufficient salt intake?

my grandmother has been diagnosed w/ hepatitus a, b, and c. i'm pretty sure the doctor recommended a reduced salt intake, but for the past 3 months, our family has allowed essentially no salt in her food. she's also been drinkin lots of water and eatin lots of veggies.

2-3 weeks ago, she started showing some pretty freaky symptoms. she's pale and drowsy, her face is swelling, she can barely swollow any food, and she constantly feels like vomiting.

i already know that insufficient salt intake will cause dizziness, cramps, etc. (thank you google), but i wanna confirm if the lack of salt in her diet is also the cause of all the current symptoms she's showing, so i can convince everyone to stop killing her like this.

There is no way to completely remove salt from her diet. There are too many foods that have salt in them. It would be my guess that her hepatitis symptoms are increasing. Has she been back to her doctor with these symptoms? It would be wise to do so - he can help with medications that might reduce her swelling, other medications for her nausea. Drinking lots of water and eating lots of vegetables is an ideal diet but she needs some protein too. She also needs a recheck with her doctor.

Only accurate way of diagnosing her with HYPONATREMIA-- low sodium in blood is with a blood test. Take her to the doc.
