Salt when working out, or working hard. Good or Bad?

So often I find myself in situations where I am working hard or outside in the heat and I know I need to drink lots of water(obviously). But there has been much debate on weather or not you should eat something with salt on it, like pretzels. Some people say you should because you need salt to sweat, and others reply that salt soaks up water therefore making it harder for your body to benefit from the water. What's the deal?

There is a condition were people are working out hard
and they drink lots of water but no salt
it changes their blood chemistry and they can be over hydrated but have the symptoms of dehydration
this is from not having enough salt and potassium in their system

This mostly happens to people who run very long distance

Drink a sports drink they have the right amount of these chemicals the body needs

or you could eat some thing with salt and eat banana's

Too much salt is never good.

My dietician says that while our food tastes bad without salt, if you're planning to lose weight, you should cut out as much salt from your diet as you can.

You really need to over exert yourself to have an electrolyte (Salt) problem, which would cause heart problems.

Drinking water is fine, and your salt content will naturally regulate itself with the foods you eat daily. You really only need electrolytes like Gatorade, or salty pretzels if you have Diarrhea or are a marathon athlete.

Drink water.
