What does iodized salt contains?

why is it iodized salt is recommended than other salt?what benefit can we get from it, and we can't get from other salts?what does iodized salt contains?

iodized salt contains iodine, which is good for your thyroid.

The scientific symbol for salt is Na Cl(Sodium Chloride). Iodized salt means they put a little iodine in the formulation to keep the salt from absorbing moisture out of the are and becoming clogged in your salt container. That is why it is called "Table salt". Iodine is good for your thyroid gland. However do not eat to much salt. It could raise your blood pressure significantly.

Eating fish and other sea foods are also a good and healthy source of iodine.

Iodized salt - A table salt mixed with a minute amount of sodium iodide or iodate, is used to help reduce the chance of iodine deficiency in humans. Iodine deficiency commonly leads to thyroid gland problems, specifically endemic goiter. Endemic goiter is a disease characterized by a swelling of the thyroid gland, usually resulting in a bulbous protrusion on the neck. While only tiny quantities of iodine are required in a diet to prevent goiter, the United States Food and Drug Administration recommends (21 CFR 101.9 (c)(8)(iv)) 150 microgrammes of iodine per day for both men and women, and there are many places around the world where natural levels of iodine in the soil are low and the iodine is not taken up by vegetables.

It contains iodine for your thyroid so you don't end up with a goiter looking like this.

Yes, table salt contains iodine, or it is known as iodized salt. Now one question to the readers, and other posters, what is the basic difference between common salt and table salt?
Since when did the concept of adding iodine to common salt come into existence?

Common salt or basic sea-salt is rich in calcium, magnesium, selenium, minerals and others which are necessary for the body. Besides it is not a cause for hyperthyroidism.

Table salt which is iodised, is nothing but purifies, evaporated sodium chloride with trace iodine, supposedly to increase the daily intake of iodine in our diet.
Table salt does not contain any minerals so it does not help the human body with supplementing with the essential calcium, zinc, selenium ++++, on the contrary, table salt has been linked as the major cause of causing hypertension and heart related disorders.

To summarize, natural common salt is the best salt in comparison with iodised table salt. Iodised salt is advised to people who have been identified and diagnosed with deficiency of iodine.
