What is the difference between ordinary salt (used in daily cooking) & rock salt commonly known as kala namak? |
The chemical formula of ordinary salt is NaCl. What is the chemical composition of rock salt (kala namak). Does it have less sodium (Na) than the ordinary salt used for daily cooking. Is replacing ordinary salt (partly) by rock salt in one's diet beneficial specially for people having heart ailments and therefore advised to reduce the salt intake. what is rock salt? rock salt and regular salt are different. for example, you can use rock salt to make homemade icecream, and regular salt to spice up your dinner I think both have no difference chemically wise. Natrium Chloride is the same whether natural or man made. The only I difference I can think of is that the rock salt may also contain other minerals like potassium or magnesium due to being taken from the sea. It may however also have pollutants, cos the sea is very polluted. |
