Allergic Reaction To Salt Water?

Hey, I was wondering if anyone knew anything about any reactions to salt water. I used to be involved in a summer water sport but a few weeks into the sport, I developed an semi-itchy pain colored rash on parts on my body that was exposed to the sun. My lips and face as developed a rash. I think it is the interaction of salt water and the sun dying off on my skin. If anyone knows anything, can you pleaseeeee help me because I would love to rejoin my team.

Specifics: it started in the summer of 2006. In the north east area.. more specifically, in Queens, New York. I stopped my water sport activities the summer of 2007 and I went to the Bahamas for a week. The rash also broke out.

I wouldn't think it is the salt water. I grew up around the salt water and professional surfing all my life. But the water could have been dirty, that with a sunburn can cause itching while sunburn heals. Also, is it around the bikini line area. That is due to the chaffing of the suit with salt water. I read in another medical area that there is an actual name for the bikini rash. But the drying off in the sun wouldn't cause it either. Are you allergic to the tanning lotion? Especially the face. You could try an antihistamine like Benedryl.
Were you in the tropics, if so, you could have been bit by sea lice. Yeah, there are sea lice and they are wicked little things. Cause itching and redness.
All-in-all I wouldn't worry about it unless it is lasting for weeks. Use Caladryl or Calamine lotion on the itching or Aloe Vera to see if that soothes it.
Hope this helps clarify the questions you need to ask yourself.
Please check out the website I found with a doctor who was asked almost the same question.

It just means that you sweat a lot. More sweat = more salt. The white stuff that you see isn't actually salt though. You taste the salt but see calcium or potassium. (I forget which one)
