Epsom Salt for open wounds? |
Hi i just had an abceses cut open , the nurse told me to talk a sitz bath . i was thinking instead of using regular table salt can i use epsom salt for the recovery of my deep open wound ? I was advised by the nurse to add a table spoon of salt to my bath. and the pharmicisit said that the salt is good for my abcesses No do not use epsom salts and do not use regular salt in your water unless it specifically says so in the instructions the doc gave you. Ususally nothing but water is used when you use the sitz bath "gizmo". I haven't seen a doc order a sitz bath in a long time. no dont do that it might get infected ! Sitz bath is basicly running warm water over an open are to help clean and bring a bit of relief.We use the sitz bath on occassion at the hospitol where I work.Warm water nothing else added and is just drained over the wound as not to irratate it more. |
