Sea salt or table salt?

i have been diagnosed with high blood pressure recently and i am taking medication accordingly.......... have been told i can use sea salt instead of regular table salt and it will not elevate my blood pressure. is this so?

That doesn't make much sense, considering both are the molecule sodium chloride. It's just that sea salt comes from evaporated salt water while table salt is usually mined (and ground fine, and sometimes has iodine added).

Potassium chloride is sometimes used as a salt substitute that doesn't raise your blood pressure, although it apparently has a slightly bitter aftertaste.

You may hear that it's toxic in high levels. It is -- it's the substance they use to execute people by lethal injection, in fact. But don't panic. It's 25 times more deadly when given as an injection than when eaten.

A 150 pound person would have to eat 6 ounces to die... by contrast, you're only supposed to eat under 1/10 of an ounce of sodium per day... so 6 ounces is a huge amount!

The second link I posted suggests this totally salt-free alternative for your salt shaker:

Seasoning Shaker
1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
1 TBSP garlic powder
1 tsp. basil, ground
1 tsp. marjoram, ground
1 tsp. thyme, ground
1 tsp. parsley
1 tsp. savory
1 tsp. mace
1 tsp. onion powder
1 tsp. black pepper
1 tsp. sage

Yes that is correct.

Yea, it's true.

sea salt tastes better because unlike table salt....there are more minerals in see salt. there is conflicting evidence on sea salt vs. table salt.........I've always said that everything is bad if not used in moderation.

My uneducated (Uneducated=I'm not a doctor) opinion: Use sea salt but keep an eye on your blood pressure regularly anyway. In fact...cut back just a bit.....if you use 3 shakes of a shaker, make it 2.....

I was diagnosed with high blood pressure after the birth of my baby, and I use sea salt just because that is what I was brought up using.

However, you should know that there isn't too much difference between the two. You should use any salt in moderation when you have high blood pressure.

Check out this article on sea salt and table salt:

I have had high blood pressure for years. Sea Salt and Table Salt are the same thing. The only differences are that Table Salt usually has Iodine added, and is available in a very fine grind where Sea Salt is packaged straight from the Water Desalination process.

The same salt is also packaged and sold as Plain table salt, kosher salt, rock salt, and Ice Cream Salt. It's all Sodium Chloride (NaCl)

Eat enough of any, and it will impact your blood pressure.

Yes that is one of the oldest home remedies. In fact if you would like to get more information on home remedies for bp visit this web site -
