SARS pattern of transmission most closely resembles what other disease?

Need to know for a test tomorrow... anyone know?

SARS coronavirus was detected in the air in a patient's room during the 2003 outbreak in Toronto, according to a new study published in The Journal of Infectious Diseases. Another study, from Hong Kong, shows patients in hospital bays near a SARS patient had a much higher infection rate than patients in distant bays, consistent with the possibility of airborne SARS transmission, according to an article in Clinical Infectious Diseases. Both articles are published in the journals' May 1 issues, and are now available online.

Hope that helps..

I am guessing common cold but here is some stuff I found in Google for you and the sites where I found the following information. It is a respiratory disease as are colds and pneumonia I think.

SARS-CoV disease provides a reminder of the risks of nosocomial transmission of respiratory pathogens and an opportunity to improve overall infection control in healthcare facilities. All healthcare facilities need to re-emphasize the importance of basic infection control measures for the control of SARS-CoV disease and other respiratory illnesses. Facilities should also consider adopting a "respiratory hygiene/cough etiquette" strategy to help limit nosocomial transmission of respiratory pathogens. To contain respiratory secretions, all persons with signs and symptoms of a respiratory infection, regardless of presumed cause, should be instructed to:

Cover the nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing
Use tissues to contain respiratory secretions.

Dispose of tissues in the nearest waste receptacle after use.
Perform hand hygiene after contact with respiratory secretions and contaminated objects and materials.
Healthcare facilities should ensure the availability of materials for adhering to respiratory hygiene/cough etiquette in waiting areas for patients and visitors:

Scientists in 11 laboratories around the world have been working together since March 17 to try to ascertain the cause of SARS.

They discovered a new type of corona virus - from a large family of viruses which causes respiratory infections and the second most likely cause of the common cold - when examining SARS.

Developing an effective vaccine for SARS will be extremely difficult because the virus keeps mutating into new forms, a Hong Kong expert told La Repubblica newspaper.
