Is the bird flu scare a real deal, or is it overhyped like y2k and SARS?

The bird flu is a real deal..and the WHO is working vigorously to contain it.. There is a fear, however, that we will not have enough vaccine available if it becomes a worldwide pandemic. it is feared that if it travels from Europe to the West, it could mutate and the vaccine available will become useless to fight it..It is a very real threat..

I seen on a tv program that it was just a big scare that it wasn't really that bad that most people get a fever and are sick like the flu for awhile but i am not sure. I watch out for sicknesses no matter what they are because you never know how your body will react to certain things.

it probably is something you might need to worry about if you lived in a certain part of the world but I don't think the media does anything but blow everything out of proportion and make little things into big deals.

SARS was never overhyped. It was an extremely deadly and contagious epidemic. If it was overhyped, why did people clothe themselves in haz-mat suits, constantly wearing protective masks and latex gloves.

y2k was hype to make money off of. sars was real and still is. the bird flu is very real and many are getting it and die from it. there are no cures. its kept quit by the governments to keep panic down. just like mad cow disease. it was real. my mother never ate meat, but was the first in the country to die from it in 1997. the government tried with the cdc to keep alot of things under wrap so as not to cause a panick. its not us they are protecting, but the farmers that will be affected.
