Is it normal to like sad songs more than happy songs? |
I for some reason like sad songs or songs that have emotion that songs that are just really upbeat. I like upbeat songs but I find myself listening to sad songs more often. I am not emo or anything. Does liking sad songs more mean I'm like depressed or anything? I know I prob. sound like an idiot for asking this.... i think music is a powerful thing, sometimes the sad songs just move a person more than an upbeat one. there are songs that bring people to tears and there is nothing wrong with that. sometimes i think the sad songs are much more heartfelt and that is what draws people to them because everyone can identify in someway with a sad song. i personally don't think this makes you depressed or idiotic, i think it makes you a person drawn to the slow, heartfelt side of music, thats all. nah, sometimes people are just born to like those better. sometimes upbeat songs are annoying anyways. I definitely don't think you're an idiot, or that you're depressed. You may just appreciate songs that have a deeper meaning than others. That is nothing to be worried about as long as you're not feeling depressed (which you sound like you aren't). Embrace it! Sometimes I like listening to songs that are sad. The worse ones are the ones that play during a sad movie. nahh thats normal. That is not a problem. You may have something for the melodies or harmonies, you may like the words and feel moved by them, or heck maybe you simply like the emotion they open up for you! You are definately not an idiot! You are obviously a very passionate person deep down inside. You probably have the ability to relate to "sad" songs or emotional songs with a lot of meaning. That's a good thing. I am like you I generally connect more with sad songs than happy ones. I think we accept being happy as part of our lives and don't really focus internally when things are going well. However when we are down we tend to look into ourselves and things like music and songs are something we focus on and really relate to. Also the same probably goes for the people doing the song writing (and singing). I once heard that it is pretty hard to pour raw emotion into happy songs but sad songs it comes very naturally. One happy song that I do really love is an oldie but a goodie. Roxette's 'June Afternoon'. Never an idiot!!!! You don't sound like an idiot. |
