Does crocodile fat help boost the immune system in HIV patients?

I have read that many years ago people in Africa used crocodile fat to treat cancer-related illnesses. Recently there has been mention of the fat being able to restore health in HIV-positive persons by boosting their immunity and reversing some infection conditions. In the absence of ARVs in rural Africa alternatives are needed to help the sick.

No

not likely.

this sounds like superstition. How can a fat cure a virus? A scientist can give a better answer than I can, but it seems very unlikely that a fat can help anyone with this disease.
People are so desperate for a cure they will try anything. I dont think it will work. Im pretty sure. Maybe there is a slight placebo effect. By this I mean that wishing to get better will help anyone who is sick. Unfortunately the disease will win in the end.

I don't know about crocodile fat though it would surprise me. I don't know how lipids would help other than perhaps providing nourishment to a body wasting away with malnutrition.

Long ago, back in the fifty's there were many articles promoting eating fat. Advertisements abounded everywhere. Now this is disbelieved though there are are good fats like fish oils.

I do know that snake gall is used for lung infections, especially in children but it has risks because of the hormones in it. It is an old Chinese remedy.

You would possibly be able to consult Chinese Medical research to see if anything there attest to crocodile fat.
