Having back surgery what are my chances of a successful surgery? |
My husband is having back surgery. Lower back-ruptured disk that is sitting on a pack of nerves. Many, many people have said it doesn't help. Should he go ahead and have the surgery in hopes it helps him or cancel it. Please I need some answers from someone who may have had this surgery before. This is a 3 year old injury and shots will only be a waste of money and time. Physical Therapy didn't work. I guess it depends on what type of help you are looking for. Do you want him completely pain free? That would be nice but it's not very likley. My husband has been through 6 back operations. 4 were ruptured disc's 1 was bone fragments and 1 was a bone fusion. Completey pain free would be so wonderful but we both know it's not likley. My dad had a herniated disk in his lower back as well. I would go for a second opinion. He fully recovered after some shots (I forget what they call them)...There are different methods of treatment. ...i don't know, if what your doctor said trust them ...get well soon if you're going to surgery (husband) I had a ruptured disk at the base of my neck that was pinching a nerve causing me pain and numbness from just below my left ear to the tips of the fingers on my left hand. .i have had the op and it changed my life .Pain free. a must is do what the doctor says to the tee. Walk ever day .Don't let him do a thing for 3 mths no bending or lifting, most important. 5 years now since op and slight pain in leg,Good luck My grandpa had what sounds like the exact same kind of surgery last week. It went fine, but the doctor said that for the first year the patients hate him, and then afterward they feel it was worth it. If you do the surgery, try and schedule it to be the second or third surgery of the day. You want the doctor to be warmed up, but not tired out. Good luck! Get him some Tahitian Noni Juice. It was a miracle for me!! |
