Yellow stool, what could it be ?

Hello all,

31 year old male, had nerve damage due to 3 seperate operations for a ruptured L5-S1 disk. I had been on 1600 mg daily dose of Ibuprofen for almost 2 years when I recently went in for a routine general health check up.

Liver test results showed elevated ALT levels to 93, AST and everything else was within normal range.

For the past few weeks I have noticed my bowel movement has changed color to yellow, not diarrea. (Honestly I had not tracked the color prior to the recent check up, so this may have been going on longer)

I have also been eating lots of lemons lately (2 per day) with olive oil per DR. recommendation and I was wondering can eating lemons (not the peel) change the stool color ? Or is this yet another sign of liver desease ?

I have no other symptoms, urine is light yellow, no pains or growth on liver side of my body. I have stopped taking Ibuprofen all together.

Any ideas ? I have tried to find online any example of the color of the stool attributed to liver disfunction and I have not been able to find any pics so I may compare.

Thnaks in advance for your help,

Yellow Stools
Yellow stools can indicate that food passed through the digestive tract relatively quickly.

Yellow stools are often found in people with GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease). Symptoms of GERD include heartburn, chest pain, sore throat, chronic cough, and wheezing. Symptoms are usually worse when lying down or bending. Foods that can worsen GERD symptoms include peppermint, fatty foods, alcohol, coffee, and chocolate.

Yellow stools can also be caused by insufficient bile output. Bile salts from the liver gives stools their brownish color. When bile output is diminished, it often first appears as yellow stools. If there is a greater reduction in bile output, stools lose almost all of their color, becoming pale or grey.

If the onset is sudden, yellow stools can also be a sign of a bacterial infection in the intestines.

ALSO: Be careful eating so many lemons... The acid in lemons will remove the enamel from your teeth.
make sure your drinking water or something to wash it from your teeth and brushing your teeth probably wouldn't hurt either. (Colgate makes a toothpaste called LUMINOUS that helps strengthen enamel.)

No idea

yes it has something to do on what you eat.. but its a little strange in the fact that you only eat 2 per day..

you better check this one...

could be your diet but whatever it is, ask your doctor. it is better to get the facts than fear them.

I'm guessing you have something wrong with your liver, due to the huge amounts of ibuprofen you are ingesting. If you have nerve damage, I would suggest a neuralgia medication, like Lyrica or Neurontin.

I would say that you have an infection somewhere in your Body and that's the way it is coming out.I am almost positive it has nothing to do with the lemons.I would say if it has not turned colors by Mid next week I would make a dr apt.
