Post lumbar fusion - questions? |
I had a fusion done at L5/S1 about 3 1/2 weeks ago. (CONTINUED) It's very normal to have intermittent sciatic pain after this type of surgery. It doesn't sound very "medical", but the nerve has had pressure on it for a while, and now that the pressure has been removed (by surgery), the nerves go through some changes, almost "waking up", if you will. If the pain is not controlled by your medicine, is worse than before surgery or becomes constant, you should call your surgeon. your nerves got pinched before and during the procedure and they can take up to 8 weeks for the inflammation to go down take Ibuprofen.I avoided lumbar fission by doing 2 artificial discs.maybe you can get some info from the hospital i went to. try ADR.COM |
