Anyone heard of DXR9000 for back pain?

It claims non surgical cure for ruptured lumbar disk. Any one with first hand knowledge if this is true?

I used to work in a chiropractic office that used the DRX9000 machine. Chiropractic is all about removing spinal misalignment (called subluxation) that causes nerve interference by pinching/putting pressure on nerves. And yes, a herniated disk also puts this kind of pressure on the nerves, which causes pain and bodily malfunction.

The principle behind the machine is kind of like anti-gravity, in that while we are standing all day, gravity is compressing our spinal column and the discs. While laying down, the machine works to gently stretch out the spinal column, taking the gravitational pressure off of the discs so they don't "squish" out (think of it like a weight on a jelly donut).

We had a lot of people who swore by the machine. They were able to get out of pain faster, which then allowed the chiropractor to adjust them and use traction. But for some people, they didn't feel much difference (although they were fewer in number). So your best bet is to try it out for yourself! I'd say that if you didn't feel a difference within a few tries, then maybe it's not for you. I think the machine only works best when it is paired with chiropractic care. The reasoning behind that is, once you stand up, the gravitational pressure is returned. But if you are able to restore the spinal column back into the proper position (with chiro care), then there won't be that uneven pressure from bad posture to squish out the disc. Hope I was able to help answer your question. Good luck!

sounds like a gimmick.

I know a couple people who have gone through the DXR9000 treatment and liked the results.

I am biased here--I am a bodyworker--and I see the caveat in having a machine decompress your spine is that the results might not last. Why not? Because there is no education in the process, there is vital non-verbal information that can be passed between a practitioner of healing arts (such as bodywork) that no machine could ever do. There is also the education of your body-mind...how/why did your spine get to in the condition it is? Will a machine listen to you and your story about what might be behind the experience of your painful spine?

If you do decide to go the DXR9000 route, do yourself a big favor and see a movement specialist, such as someone who practices Feldenkrais...you will need to learn how to use your body and your spine in a different way so you don't re-create the same spinal condition.

Alternatives to the machine route that I suggest are structural integration therapies like Hellerwork and Rolfing. Not only do they address decompression of the spine, but also realigning other parts of your body (such as your feet and legs, which support your spine). The cost of receiving a series of structural integration sessions is a fraction of the DXR9000 treatment process and the results could be better and longer lasting.
