Advice please i have a freind that wants to.......mental?

Runaway from mental hospital what if she is given a long time to go out on her own, how willl the police no where to find her if she is not staying with any know family or freinds and she is gone and got time to change clothes and gone elsewhwhere is that possible different from just running out and being caught.

i hope she gets away.. them places does more harm than good...She will always be a drug addict if she doesnt get out of there... Cheer her on.....God Bless

There is a reason she is there and she needs to stay and complete her treatment. If she doesn't her life will consist of being in and out of mental facilities. The police will find her - they always do, no matter how long it takes. She will be looking over her shoulder all the time, wondering if they recognize her. Advise her to finish her treatment and then, get herself released as a free person.

I think the real question here is why she wants to run away so much in the first place? If she genuinely believes she is being mistreated then she needs to get in touch with an advocate and seek help through the right channels. Running away won't benefit her at all. As soon as she doesn't return the police will be given a description of her. What is she going to do, never go outside again? It's just not realistic that she won't get caught at some point. What about when she needs money or a Dr or anything else that will require her to use her name/offer ID? She can't spend the rest of her life in hiding. Besides, for her to have ended up in a mental hospital in the first place is a sign that she was in need of treatment. It's not a good idea for her to run away from that.

I don't know her situation but I would work at getting all the facts before doing anything. Definitely try to stop her from running away, but not physically. I hope she doesn't do that. If something really is going wrong there are legal means to deal with it. Good luck.
