Why is it dangerous to have rubella while being pregnant???

I heard that having rubella while being pregnant is very dangerous and maybe fatal.I want to know why.and want to know how can I get sure if I had it before or no..I asked my mother she told me I had a MMR vaccination when I had few months and that maybe I had rubella but it with low symptoms so it may have been just a cold .
but she's not sure.and then I heard that the MMR vaccine should be taken twice one time after birth and one time while having between 9-12 years old to activate the vaccine in the body.
but I have only taken it the first time.so what to do????????
I'm not pregnant but just worried if I have it while being pregnant known that my mother is not sure if I had it or not and that I didn't have the second time vaccination.

Go to the Dr and ask about your immunity, they will probably take blood, if it comes back that you are not immune they will give you a shot to make sure you are. It is especially important to do it before you become pregnant as having Rubella in pregnancy can cause some deformities.

because it can make the baby deaf or blind.
