It came up this morning. He had a little fever (only slightly elevated so I thought it might be because he just woke up) and a cough, but so does everyone else in the house right now. The rash is little red dots but they are really light getting closer to a brown color as the day goes by. He has a mild peanut allergy and this looks nothing like the rash he gets from that. This is on his stomach and chest (gets fainter as it goes up) and down to the bend at the top of his legs. The dots were never really raised. When I woke him up this morning I noticed he had worked his fitted sheet off his mattress in the night and ended up under it, so I thought maybe it could just be an irritation from the allergens in the mattress? I have looked at pics of roseola and it looks nowhere near as severe as that - fainter and spread out more than what I saw in the pics. BTW he is 5 and just started Kindergarten, but no reports of anything going around his school so far. With him only being 5 years old it is very hard to say exactly what it could be considering so much is going around, but if i must say I would give him benadryl if its an allergy and see if that goes away. Remove his sheets and wash in clorox and spray his mattress with lysol to remove all viruses, etc. Also Motrin is very good for fever because it lasts longer and you can also get that in Motrin for colds. I would use hydrocortisone cream on the bumps along with the Benadryl and Motrin Cold. I believe this will help. If not he would probably need to see his pediatrician in the morning. I have kids myself if that helps. Try the skin rash page at the source below. It discusses all different types of skin rashes. |
