Acne Rosacea and Steroids? |
hi i have been recently diagnosed with acne rosacea and the other one erthema rosacea i think thats how you spell it, any way the doctor has prescribed me with oral antibiotics for two months but also a hydrocortisone cream to apply to the papules, now i have been using it for a week and its helped with the papules alot but i have read on internet that steroids can make rosacea come back twice as bad so should i trust my doctor and carry on using it or should i just ride it out without the steroids to allow the antibiotics to do there job? I am no doctor but I WAS diagnosed with the same thing, the first time I took acutane.....worked great....this last time metrogel, a topical cream or gel thing, it did work but it took a while, quite a while , I had it in my eyes too, but, come to find out, I didn't have rosacea at all, ends up it was, and IS an allergy to black mold, this is my case and my case only, I am only suggesting that you consider that it may NOT be rosacea at all. I don't really trust docs any more.....remember, if you get well, they go broke. I got rid of the mold in my home, (that I didn't know was here) and I have been "clear" ever since....good luck, I know how much it sucks....hang in there. I have the same thing, but the steroid gel that I was prescribed, was only for the first few weeks of treatment, have been on the antibiotics, Doxycycline, for about 5 years, had a break in the middle of that, but it came back as bad as before, so I had to start all over again!! Hope yours doesn't turn out to be as bad as that, I don't do anything by halves!! Your doctor is right to prescribe a steroid cream as a SHORT-TERM solution, to help to settle the condition down. He will probably tell you to gradually stop using the cream, and perhaps use it on alternate days, then once a week, etc., until you stop it altogether. |
