Root canal =(? |
Hello, my lower left 18 molar needs a root canal, but the whole treatment with the canal, build up, and crown cost way too much money. are there any other alternatives after the canal treatment besides build up and crown? If you do the root canal, you have to do the build up and crown or the tooth will eventually fracture. Sticking an amalgam or composite filling in a root canal tooth is the recipe for eventual disaster. The other options discussed, extraction and tooth replacement with an implant is far more expensive. The alternative way is to get the tooth removed. root canal procedures for molars are the priciest and usually the most common place to occur. The reason most likely why you need a root canal, probably because there is a cavity in that tooth that has gone too deep. If you don't get a root canal, the acid-producing bacteria will continue to eat away at the tooth, and eventually you will have to remove the tooth anyway. Root canal is the best way to save the tooth, even though it costs a lot. Also, if you do decide to go through with the procedure, make sure you get a crown immediately, or else it would be a waste of money. If a crown is not placed within weeks, or longer, it will eventually have to get it removed by general dentist or oral surgeon. What the previous answerer forgot to add is that if you have the tooth removed you will need to havea bridge or an implant , otherwise your other teeth will start to move a lot which will end up costing you more in the long run. By the way, bridges and implants are waaaaaay more expensive than root canals and crowns. Dental implants may be a more expensive procedure but the implant company we use (Nobel Biocare) offers a guarantee on their work( the dentist I work for will do the same) At least look into implants in order to best way your options. Root canals can fail and you'll have to pay for it again and again. |
