Root canal!!!!?

I need to go in for a root canal but I have never had one...so what should I expect?? I hate going to the dentist!!

I have had a root canal. First there is NO NO NO pain, a little soreness from being pushed around afterwards, but no real pain.
It will probably take about an hour or so to do the first visit. The first visit, they will drill into your root, and remove the infected tissue. The worst part of the whole experience is the sound. The drill makes a very unique sound that sounds horrible. Remember you can't feel any pain, only pressure so it's not bad, just sounds horrible. I won't ruin the pleasure of experience the sound for the first time for you.

The second time (after about 4 weeks), it's even easier. They remove the filler from your tooth (you have no nerve, so there's no pain, just pressure). and cap it. It's not painful, no pain afterwards. Just takes about an hour to do

Good luck, and don't be too nervous. Cause there is no pain.

First of all..once you realize that (I hope this doesn't come across as harsh) the reason you are needing the root canal is simply that. It is really no big deal. We used to tell the patients ..it is like having a filling done with some extras thrown in. I would recommend if you really are dreading this to consider going to an endodontist. All he does is root canals and the like..and most times..it is an hour visit from start to finish in the endo's chair. At the dentist..depending on what tooth it is it could be one, two or sometime three visits for a molar. It is UP to you..but why be numbed many more visits..you are already AFRAID to go.
I wish you well.
