my girlfriend thinks that about 5 years ago she was date raped and filmed doing degrading sexual acts. my understanding of it was that you passed out and had no memory? .We are just trying to gain a greater understanding so that she can move on.

If flunitrazepam exposure is to be detected at all, urine samples need to be collected within 72 hours and subjected to sensitive analytical tests. This uncertainty may lead to critical delays or even reluctance to report the rape and provide appropriate biological samples for testing. If a person suspects that he or she is the victim of a flunitrazepam-facilitated rape, he or she should get laboratory testing for flunitrazepam as soon as possible. In recent news it has been discovered that scientists can now detect flunitrazepam and related compounds in urine at least up to 5 days after administration of a single dose of Rohypnol and up to a month in hair. A recent study conducted by doctors in the U.K. found that none of the subjects reporting spiked drinks had any traces of flunitrazepam or other medications popularly believed to be associated with rape such as GHB. She could well encounter fashbacks of what happened that night that she maybe didn't remember the day after, it depends on the quantity she was spiked with and how tolerant her own body is, for example if she is small and light in weight her body will react differently to a bigger person but some people do pass out others are more aware and can be active in a situation, such as being raped and going thro the motions but not having enough energy in them to stop it or even say no.

If she feels confident enough in you to discuss this then you must have a strong relationship. It sounds as though she is trying to clear shadows from her past, I hope that you are being supportive. Rape in any form is a horrific experience, but the uncertainty of date rape whilst under someones total control must be even worse. Our brains block trauma but little bits of suppressed memory are hard to keep down. Just be strong for her, don't push her to recount details which will be traumatic. Rohypnol is a legitimate drug used in the short-term treatment of sleep disorders, but has been abused for more sinister purposes. It make you pass out and have little memory of what happened but most people who are date raped will have little flashbacks but wont really understand them some know they have been date raped because they are sore in the morning ..It is like being really really drunk but with out drinking anything.It rose to prominence as the date rape drug because it was colourless, odourless and tasteless - ideal for spiking drinks undetected - and causes sedation or euphoria in approximately 20 to 30 minutes.


If she was date raped it might if also been another date rape drug like the , gamma-hydroxybutryate (GHB) .
The effects of GHB are similar to those of Rohypnol - dizziness, confusion and memory loss. It is colourless and odourless. It is most commonly found in liquid form.
