Ringworm?????!!!!!!!? |
I just discovered i have ringworm on the lower part of my leg. I went to walgreens and got this stuff i rub on it two times a day so i have been showering and washing it with a mild anti bacterial soap and putting the medicine and band aids on it 2 times a day. Is that a good way to go about getting rid of it? Also i have no idea how i got it....we had a cat for about a week and he had some spots on his head where there was no hair, could i have gotten it from him? and one time when i got out of the shower he came in there while my lags were still wet and rubbed on them. So i did have contact with his head, just wondering if that was a possibility. Also on a scale from 1-10 how bad is ringworm and how long does it take to get rid of...how hard is it to get rid of? thank you. You most definitely picked it up from the cat. I do not know what type of anti-fungal cream you are using. Lamasil containing (miconazole) and (clotrimazole) is best for clearing trunk ringworm. Cats should be held carefully. It is not that bad just take the treatment regularly and it will go. Ringworm infection is not a worm infection....it is a fungal infection and yes you can get it from your cat...and it doesnt have to be only through direct contact but also from contaminated bedding, grooming equipment, carpet & furniture. Yeah you got it from the cat. Make sure you don't scratch at it and try not to mess with it very much. It is possible to spread it to another spot. At least this is what the vet told me when I took my kitten in. I got it from my cat when we got him as a kitten 9 years ago. Just keep putting the anti-fungal stuff on it like the package says. It should go away within a couple weeks. I kept mine covered with a band-aid so I wouldn't mess with it. They are annoying but they really aren't anything to worry about and since you are already taking care of it, it shouldn't be too hard to get rid of. I would just suggest that if you have a cat again and you notice the bald spots then you should go to your vet and get a sulfur shampoo to wash the cat in and get rid of the ringworm. I hope my answer helped. Good Luck and God Bless! |
