Ringworm?!!?

What are some causes of Ringworm?
What are some types of medicine you can put on Ringworm?
How long is the approximate healing time of the Ringworm after you have started to apply the medicine?

Ringworm is a common fungal infection that can affect several areas of the body, including the scalp, feet, groin, other areas of skin, and also the nails. The specific type of fungus that causes ringworm (which is also known as tinea) grows in moist, warm environments.

Tinea lives on the outermost layer of the skin, hair and nails and feeds on the cells there. As the fungus multiplies on the skin, it spreads out in a circle, leaving a distinctive ring-like pattern. Despite its name, there is no worm present under the skin in patients with this infection.

Ringworm is contagious, and people can become infected with the causative fungus in many ways. Direct contact with an infected person or animal can transmit the fungus. Direct contact with contaminated, damp surfaces (e.g., public showers, locker room floors) and other contaminated items (e.g., combs, unwashed clothing) also can result in ringworm infection.

Ringworm is a skin disorder that can affect people of all ages. People with compromised immune systems are more vulnerable to ringworm infection. Other skin conditions (e.g., atopic dermatitis, psoriasis) sometimes can cause symptoms similar to those of ringworm. For this reason, a physician typically performs various tests to make a definitive diagnosis of ringworm.

Ringworm infections usually require treatment with prescription medications and/or antifungal creams available over the counter at your local chemist shop/pharmacy.

You may not see any improvement in the rash for several days. In some cases, it takes two weeks before you will see any change. Treatment should continue for two to four weeks total, depending how quickly the rash initially improve.

Several steps can be taken to prevent ringworm. People should avoid close contact with people or animals known to be infected with ringworm. People also are urged to keep their skin and feet clean and dry, to shampoo regularly, and to wear sandals or shoes at gyms, lockers and pools. It is best not to share clothing or personal care items such as towels, brushes and combs.

a ringworm is not actually a worm it is a fungus an if you use a anti fungal cream applying from the outside to the center it will not spread and will go a way. you can by the medicine at wal-mart or any drug store

Ringworm is caused by a a family of fungus called dermatophytes which invade the outer layers of the skin. Ringworm can be treated with pills, but more often with a cream. Some antifugal creams include Cruex cream, Desenex cream, Lotrimin cream, lotion, and Monistat-Derm cream Lamisil cream and solution. As these are general anti fungals, having a physician perscribe the correct one can lead to the quickest recovery time. Antifungal creams can generally inactivated the fungus within 24 hours, clearing the skin can take up to two weeks.

YOU CAN USE BLUESTAR OINTMENTS ANTI FUGAL CREAM AND BLEACH TO DRY THE SURFACE. DON'T TOUCH IT AND THEN TOUCH ANOTHER PART OF YOUR BODY YOU CAN SPREAD IT LIKE THAT. AND WHEN IT ITCHES DON'T SCRATCH IT. WASH YOUR HANDS AFTER PUTTING ON CREAMS OR USE A COTTON BALL OR PIECE OF TISSUE UNTIL IT HEALS ALL THE WAY. IT'S A FUNGUS THAT PEOPLE PICK UP FROM ALOT OF PLACE BUT DON'T WORRY IT WILL GO AWAY AND DOESN'T CAUSE ANY MAJOR PROBLEMS BUT SKIN IRRITATIONS. SO TAKE CARE AND I HOPE I'VE HELPED
