Ringworm problem!!?

Hello..
I have had ringworm for a very long time but I just realized it recently without much care..
But we got about 4 cats,.. and it caught my attention when I learned one of our kittens got these horrid spots that sounded like ringworm (from research.) I've also learned that my mother has ringworm as well,.. and I'm sure as hell the other 2 older cats have it too since we had them for over 4 years with my touch, but it just doesn't really show on them. I'm planning on taking them to the vet.. but now I need to know about curing it on us. I can't spend that much going to a doctor; no insurance.
Is there a specific product that will treat us? Any over-the-counter medicine?
I have had this for a long time as well as my mother, and I need help. I have this crap all over my chest, back and scalp; (I'm sure because the spots itch when I'm hot or eat spicy food.)
If there is an over-the-counter drug then please list the specific name of it.. and where to get it (Walgreens, etc)
PLZ!

Use anything that is anti-fungal. Ringworm is a fungus, so use something that will treat atheletes foot or the like.

You may REALLY want to take your cats to the vet. They need special medication for that.

There are home remedies for ringworm. Just google "home remedies for ringworm and a bunch of sites pop up. Here's one for example.

My doctor gave me hydrocortizone cream and it cleared it right up. However, I had one spot and caught it right away. You can get it pretty much anywhere, Walgreens, Meijer, etc... If it doesn't help you really should go to a doctor or maybe you can find a low-income clinic. For the cats, if your vet wants to prescribe something ask him the name and how much he is going to charge you. Then go online to petmeds.com or similar site and you can probably get the meds for much cheaper. I got flea med for almost 1/2 the price by ordering online!

i agree use an anti fungal until it goes away use it for little longer than that and you will probally have some scarring so it will look like you still have it but it will be gone

Ringworm usually responds well to self-care within 4 weeks without having to see a doctor.

Keep your skin clean and dry.
Apply over-the-counter antifungal or drying powders, lotions, or creams. (these can be found many times in the foot care area of a drug store.)Those that contain miconazole, clotrimazole, or similar ingredients are often effective.
Wash sheets and nightclothes every day while infected.
A severe or persistent infection may require treatment by a doctor. Antifungal pills may be given and are necessary if your hair is infected. Prescription antifungal skin medications, such as ketoconazole, are stronger than over-the-counter products and may be needed. Antibiotics may also be needed to treat related bacterial infections.

Infected pets also should be treated.

First of all, if it's in your scalp you'll have to go to the doctor. Your cats, ALL of them, need to go to the vet and get put on an oral antifungal or you'll keep getting it!
In the mean time, try any antifungal cream for athletes foot (it's essentially the same fungus as ringworm) and put it on generously on and around the area where the ringworm is. You'll have to do this 2-3 times a day for approximately 6 months to get rid of it. Also, WASH everything you can in hot water and bleach all hard surfaces. Keep your animals confined to one area for 6 weeks. It can take up to 6 weeks for an infected animal to show signs of having it, although your vet will probably want to put them all on an oral antifungal medication. Keep your house clean clean clean or you WILL NOT get rid of this stuff. It will live in everything you touch, your car, your clothes, your carpet....it's nasty to get rid of. Shampoo your carpets. Vacuum daily. We adopted a cat that ended up having Ringworm. It transmitted it to us and our other cat. After keeping our house clean as can be and washing our bedding daily (and using the topical medication daily without fail) we beat it in about 5 months.

Get treatment for the cats! Wash all their stuff.

You can get a treatment for it anywhere. There are name brands and store brands. Since it's a fungus, and it sounds like you have a fairly widespread case. I'd start with rubbing alchol especially your scalp and then spot treat focused areas. Tea Tree oil is a natural treatment but I've never used it so can't attest to it's effectiveness.

Use all towels once. Change sheets often to keep from reinfecting yourself.

yes you can use athletes foot medicine on the spots on your body..the cremes would probably be better...try to wash your hands often...try not to get it in your hair...it can make hair loss permanent around the spot..your cats can also be treated with athletes foot medicine and spray deo on the top to keep them from licking it off..this is what my vet told me to do when my cat had it...its a normal thing for cats to get..they are extremely contagious..and it takes a while to heal on a cat or at least it did mine..she would itch and tended to bite and lick it...which is how i noticed she had it..you can get the athletes foot medicine at any walmart, kmart, target or drugstore..try to get lamisil i think is the how you spell it..its a little more but great stuff

Hello. Last time i had ringworn also. You may try this product (Daktarin) cream. Are you singaporean. It is available at any Guardian shop and Watson shop. You may try to apply on the cat also. (i'm not kidding)
