Can i give my 5 yr old? |
pepto? his belly hurts and that's all i have in the house? i know it may cause Reye's syndrome, but is that only if they've been sick or what? anything else i can do for him? thanks in advance. The adult pepto is not really for children under 12 but if you cut the dose it should be fine, as long a there is no flu symptoms or fever.. May want to also try some ginger ale. Pepto is not going to hurt your son, it will help hiim with his tummy ache. I give it to my sons. Just give him a teaspoon and that will be fine. Yes, you can. Only give him half the recommended amount, though. I give it to my four-year-old and six-year-old all the time when they have tummy troubles. I would go to a local store like CVS or Wallgreens or a Target or pretty much any where and get some Tums, the make my stomach feel better when it hurts and the kind of work as a viatamen for viatemen c! does the bottle say a certain age or up...i think it can be 12 and under or sometimes the minimum age is 6...check first! Give him a shaken down cola before you give him something with salicylates. If you know it may cause reye's symdrome and you give him that and he gets reye's symdrome...How will you feel? Don't give it to him. Try some crackers or toast to settle his stomach if you have nothing else. And don't give him any dairy products either. FOR GOD SAKES...NO!!!! NEVER EVER GIVE PEPTO TO A CHILD THAT YOUNG. Is he conspitated?? I give my son Little Tummy's and it works fine. the only thing that I know that can cause "Reye's syndrome" is giving a child under age asprin, I think that it says on the bottle that you can give him 1 teaspoon, for his stomach. but if he is not any better with in 2 hrs, from giving it to him you may want to call his Dr. to see if he needs to be looked at for he may have a bad stomach bug that calls for a stronger med. |
