Delayed sleep phase syndrome & restless legs??? |
hi, im 14 years old and im wondering if i have delayed sleep phase syndrome or restless legs: My best suggestion is that you talk to your doctor. you sound exactly like me. i usually don't get to sleep until 1 a.m. or later. I have the urge to move my legs, too. restless leg syndrome can lead to insomnia. i am taking mirapex for restless leg syndrome, which was prescribed by my doctor. when i get the urge to move, i take the mirapex and the feeling usually goes away within 15 minutes and i am able to sleep. exercise can help rls, but i would definitely talk to your doctor. Also try to eliminate caffiene in your system before bed. for example, no pop, sugar, coffee, etc after 6 p.m.. it affects rls, and can sometimes make the insomnia worse. Well, as far as falling asleep everyone has a different remedy (mine was exercise). Your health is a big deal so sit your parents down and tell them you are truly concerned. If they still won't listen, see the school counselor about the situation. Sleep is a vital part of your health. Only a doctor can tell you if you have a certain condition. Take the information that you have from the internet into the doc's office with you and tell them that your symptoms are similar to what you have read. They will most likely prescribe you a sleep med/antihistamine for it. In extreme situations you may need to see a psychiatrist. Hope that helps |
