I think i have restless legs syndrome? |
i'm only 12 and my mom says i have it. i can't stop shaking my leg and my friends say i have to stop but i can't. i can't sit still and pretend nothing's happening. There's like tingling in my legs and i feel someone's sticking pins on me. I think there are a lot of energy in it that it makes me want to move , walk, stomp my feet, or just massage it. Is it RLS? if so, how can i treat it? i also have trouble sleeping and it hurts when i sit or lie down. You are rather young to have RLS, but I don't know if there is an age limit on it! I have it but it only hits me a night when I go to bed. I either lay there and "exercise" my legs or get up and walk it out. During the day sounds like you just have a lot of nervous energy. Do you drink a lot of sodas? I stopped drinking any soda in the evenings and that helped a lot. I'm very active during the day, maybe why I don't experience any problems then. I don't experience and pain when sitting or lying down so you may want to go get a medical checkup. So do I! thats exactly what I get. It sounds like it as I went to the doctor. He told me it was due to smoking and tea and coffee and also to take vitamins. If you get it when in bed just get up and walk around for a bit and it will be better. This is what I do. Also the doctor said for very bad RLS they can put you on tablets used for parkinsons. I suggest you go and see your doctor. Good luck. Helen B is right. They can put you on meds for parkinson's, however it doesn't work for everyone. My mom was on these meds but they had to switch her to something else as it didn't help. One thing I strongly suggest, (I tend to get it too), is to eat light meals at night. Eat your big meal at lunch time as you are more active during the day. Since we do less at night, it is better to eat smaller portions and things that are light and easy to digest at night. Did you ever think that it may be grouwing pains.. It is just as, if not more, painful as RLS. Your doctor is the best person to advise you! Good luck! :) I have the same problem. Not as bad as you though! Sounds like Restless Leg Syndrome to me. There are herbal supplements that will help. |
