Can a person get an upper respiratory infection from a puppy?

My puppy was dewormed and given antibiotics for an upper respiratory infection as he was coughing and sneezing. Now I feel like I am getting a cold and I was wondering if I could have caught something from the puppy.

Not likely, most URI aren't species jumpers.

Usually animal diseases are not communicable to humans. There are a few in the world like Bird flu. But, usually canine illness are in different forms that cannot effect humans.

You can in fact catch a cold from the puppy as well as giving a puppy a cold. We had a litter of pups this summer and the heat/cold spells gave them all a cold. I wound up catching a cold as well as my children and the only place we could have caught it from is the pups. After researching the pups cold, zi found out that humans can catch them.
