Can pool algae give you a lower respiratory infection?

Earlier this week, I cleaned my sons embarrasingly slimy pool (we had temporarily abandoned it) with a strong dilution of chorine bleach. About a day later, I developed a nagging cough (kinda tickly) that produced a little phlegm (sorry for the TMI.) I am not one to get a cough, even when I get a cold. Do you think either the algae or the bleach caused this? If so, do you think it will resolve itself or should I see a dr?

Maybe because i swam in a friends pool when it was lime green that whole night and the next week i had bad snot. Mine went away fast but could had cause a infection so you might need to go a doc.

No it is benign. Inhaling a concentration of chlorine could irritate the bronchi. This should clear with no treatment.
