Respiratory diseases in children?

Young children are very suseptible to broncheolitis that can come and go throughout the year, and can cause respiratory problems later in life. There are many lung conditions, many not treatable except to treat the symtoms.

Does the child have mucoviscidosis? This disease affects the lungs of children severely and they seldom live beyond teens. If there is a suspicion because of a family history a simple sweat test will diagnose it.

There are many respiratory diseases that occur in children. A few that come to mind are interstitial lung disease (which my daughter has), cystic fibrosis, asthma, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, bronchiolitis, RSV, upper and lower respiratory tract infections, emphysema, cancers, and many many more. If you have a child that is having a problem, especially if it is a problem that seems severe or is lingering, I highly recommend taking your child to a pediatric pulmonologist. Hope this helps.

Most common one is RSV (respiratory Syncitial Virus). Usually in little kids. Other than that Asthma, Pneumonia are the common ones.

Doctor's can not find any respiratory diseases in children until they are 6 months of age and older.
