I am suffering from acute respiratory infection.?

Hi, I am 24 years old and have just been diagonized with Acute respiratory infection. I am currently seeing a doctor, im am just worried and would like to know the below:
1. Can a person die from ARI
2. Do u have to be continously on treatment
3. Can you get fully cured from this disease.
4. What are the causes and prevention of it.
5. Would it result in lung cancer.

I would highly appreciate it if someone could answer all these questions as i am in a total panic mode and dontknow what to do.

Here is a web site that answers all of your questions.

u have not mentioned whether u have upper or lower respiratory tract infection. respiratory tract infection[RTI] covers a huge variety of problems from a common cold to pneumonia. a cold is almost never fatal, while pneumonia can definitely be fatal if not treated.
u have to be under the care of a doctor and complete ur treatment, b'coz if u don't it can become chronic, and u'll keep getting sick.
u can get completely cured, but u have to complete ur treatment.
its caused usually by someone around u having the infection, it could be a healthy person or someone ill. most infections can be prevented by frequent hand washing with soap and water. using a mask or avoiding people who are ill is not very easily practisable but u could try!
unless the infection becomes chronic[ i'm talking decades!] or ur a smoker it won't result in lung cancer.

calm down don't panic, try to do yogic deep breathing, it will help you in calming and meanwhile take a look for respiratory diseases info...
