Do you think that cheap feminine products contain chemicals that are harmful to women's reproductive health?

What is the difference between name brand and store brand tampons and maxi pads?

No.

Pads and Tampons are regulated by the FDA and, regardless of price, will not have harmful chemicals in them.

The only difference, really, is the money spend on advertising and maybe the quality of materials--meaning the store brand may not absorb as well, but it will by no means be harmful to you.

As for recalls, that's when something is bad in a particular batch of a product; a mistake in manufacturing. It doesn't have anything to do with cost/brand.

none. and no, they cannot contain any harmful chemicals like you are thinking.

My beliefs on this aren't popular, but I believe they can. Not all do, but it's always possible for anything, even if it's regulated by the government, to contain something harmful. Otherwise, we would not have recalls.

One thing that I have read about pads and tampons is about the chemical used to bleach and soften the cotton. It can cause allergies in some women who use them. This is why health stores sell unbleached cotton pads and tampons. I'll see if I can find some links for you.

**Edit: Here's one. It debunks some of the myths about what chemicals are in tampons and pads, and it tells you how some women can benefit from using organic, unbleached cotton products: http://www.menstruation.com.au/periodpag...

Personally, I love my Diva cup. It's environmentally friendly, not associated with TSS, and much cheaper than buying pads or tampons every month. You can read about it here: http://www.divacup.com

Tampons can lead to toxic shock syndrom which can kill you.
Just use pads, they're 100 percent safe no matter the brand.
